What this is

Linux Administration Essentials covers the skills administrators use daily: navigating the filesystem, managing users and permissions, installing software, controlling services, reading logs, basic networking and shell scripting. Exercises run on a free virtual machine so you can practise safely.

It is a foundation course, not exam preparation for any vendor certification, and it does not award one. It does not promise a systems administrator role; real-world competence also needs ongoing practice.

What you will be able to do

  • Navigate the filesystem and manipulate files from the shell
  • Manage users, groups and permissions safely
  • Install software and manage services with systemd
  • Read logs and diagnose common problems
  • Automate routine tasks with simple shell scripts
