What this is
Model Evaluation & Testing focuses on the part of AI work that is often skipped: deciding what good looks like and checking it rigorously. You will choose metrics, build evaluation sets, test language-model outputs, look for bias and failure modes and set up regression testing so quality does not quietly slip.
It assumes basic familiarity with data and models and is not a statistics degree. It cannot guarantee that any model you evaluate is safe or fair in every situation — it gives you methods to find problems, not a certificate of quality.
What you will be able to do
- Choose metrics that match a model’s real-world purpose
- Build representative evaluation and test sets
- Evaluate language-model outputs with rubrics and human review
- Probe models for bias, robustness and failure modes
- Set up regression tests and monitoring for models in production
