What this is
Security Operations Center Essentials introduces the day-to-day work of a SOC: collecting and reading logs, using a SIEM, triaging alerts, investigating incidents, applying threat intelligence and writing clear incident reports. Scenario exercises let you practise reasoning through realistic alerts.
It is an entry-level introduction and does not replace hands-on experience in a live SOC. It awards no certification and does not promise a security analyst job.
What you will be able to do
- Explain the roles, tools and workflows inside a SOC
- Read common log sources and recognise suspicious activity
- Triage alerts and decide when to escalate
- Follow an incident response process from detection to recovery
- Write a clear, factual incident report
